Twitter Arab world – Statistics Feb 2017

Twitter Arab World:

The total number of monthly active Twitter users in the Arab region is estimated to reach 11.1 million in March 2017, almost doubling up from 5.8 million three years ago.

Over the past two years, Algeria witnessed the largest growth in terms of number of new active users on Twitter in the region, followed by Egypt and the UAE.

Collectively, the Arab world generates 27.4 million tweets per day up from 17.2 million tweets per day two years earlier.

 

Twitter Growth and Penetration Rates in the Arab Region
  1. Saudi, Number of accounts: more than 1.7 million users, Penetration rate: 8.1%.
  2. Egypt, Number of accounts: more than 1.7 million users. Penetration rate: 1.8%.
  3. Algeria, Number of accounts: more than 800 thousand users, Penetration rate: 2%.
  4. UAE, Number of accounts: more than 800 thousand users, Penetration rate: 8.7%.
  5. Kuwait, Number of accounts: more than 500 thousand users, Penetration rate: 12.6%.
  6. Iraq, Number of accounts: more than 400 thousand users, Penetration rate: 1%.
  7. Syria, Number of accounts: more than 300 thousand users, Penetration rate: 1.6%.
  8. Palestine, Number of accounts: more than 300 thousand users, Penetration rate: 6.4%.
  9. Morocco, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 0.6%.
  10. Qatar, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 9.1%.
  11. Oman, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 4.6%.
  12. Tunisia, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 1.6%.
  13. Jordan, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 2.4%.
  14. Bahrain, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 12.9%.
  15. Lebanon, Number of accounts: more than 200 thousand users, Penetration rate: 2.8%.
  16. Libya, Number of accounts: more than 100 thousand users, Penetration rate: 1.6%.
  17. Yemen, Number of accounts: more than 100 thousand users, Penetration rate: 0.6%.
  18. Sudan, Number of accounts: less than 100 thousand users, Penetration rate: 0.3%.
  19. Djibouti, Number of accounts: less than 100 thousand users, Penetration rate: 0.9%.
  20. Comoros, Number of accounts: less than 100 thousand users, Penetration rate: 0.6%.
  21. Somalia, Number of accounts: less than 100 thousand, Penetration rate: 0.2%.
  22. Mauritania, Number of accounts: less than 100 thousand, Penetration rate: 0.6%.

 

CHANGES IN NUMBERS OF Twitter USERS IN THE ARAB STATES (BETWEEN 2014 AND 2017):

  2. Egypt gained 590.000 users.
  3. UAE gained 300.000 users.
  4. Saudi gained 206.000 users.
  5. Iraq gained 179.000 users.
  6. Syria gained 170.000 users.
  7. Kuwait gained 159.000 users.
  8. Palestine gained 154.000 users.
  9. Tunisia gained 149.900 users.
  10. Morocco gained 146.300 users.
  11. Oman gained 131.200 users.
  12. Bahrain gained 117.800 users.
  13. Qatar gained 108.000 users.
  14. Sudan gained 76.900 users.
  15. Libya gained 58.900 users.
  16. Jordan gained 26.000 users.
  17. Yemen gained 24.000 users.
  18. Mauritania gained 18.840 users.
  19. Djibouti gained 7430 users.
  20. Comoros gained 3670 users.
  21. Somalia gained 2.100 users.
  22. Lebanon the number of Twitter users in the country has decreased 8000 users.
